Half a century

Yesterday was my parents 50th Wedding Aniversary. They got married at St. Cuthbert's church, Firvale, Sheffield after Dad had been ill for nearly 2 years with TB in his shoulder (for a large percentage of that period he had been hospitalised with Mum visiting weekly) They were 22.
Dad has been plagued with illness most of his life, at 40 he developed Arthritis, he is a diabetic and has had 2 heart attacks and a heart bypass. He now also has osteo arthritis in his right hip and probably will need a hip replacement.
They are very quiet living people so there won't be any boozy parties late into the night. I & them went out for lunch yeaterday and then the family are going out for dinner on Tuesday as it is also my birthday.
I am an only child, as are Mum & Dad. Dad did have a sister but she was killed many years ago in a freak lightening accident. So when we go out on Tuesday there will be seven of us, them, me & and the Oh! Bearded One, DD & her boyfriend, Gromit and Son of Mine. We will have a good time as we all get on well, there are no family fall outs in this family, I pray it stays that way.

Congratulations to your parents. It's no small feat to have built a marriage that lasts.

We are all very close in my family as well. We've never had a falling out although we have had our "moments" but we always get over it quickly.
